Key responsibilities
- Create original jewellery concepts through sketches and digital renderings.
- Develop designs in CAD software such as Rhino or Matrix, ready for casting or manufacturing.
- Select suitable metals, stones and finishes while keeping cost and wearability in mind.
- Follow trends in bridal, daily wear and fashion jewellery and adapt them to local taste.
- Coordinate with karigars, model makers and production teams to produce accurate prototypes.
- Check finished pieces for design accuracy and quality before they are approved.
- Develop custom orders by reworking customer ideas into manufacturable designs.
Who can apply
New entrants can apply with confidence, and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply too. A bachelor's degree is the listed qualification, and a diploma or degree in jewellery design, fine arts or fashion is an advantage.
Skills that help
Drawing ability, 3D CAD skills, knowledge of gemstones and metals, a sense of colour and proportion, and an eye for current trends will help you succeed.
Work locations
Work is offered in Surat, along with other options in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Most positions are in design studios or manufacturing units connected to the gems and jewellery trade.
