We also build software, so we are careful to keep consulting honest. Audits and build-vs-buy reports are written to stand on their own: you can take them to any vendor. If the right answer is a ready-made SaaS tool, a spreadsheet for another six months, or your existing agency with clearer scope, that is what the report says.

What a vendor or code audit looks at

When you inherit a product or doubt your current supplier, an audit gives you facts. We review:

• Who owns the code, domain, hosting and third-party accounts, and how to take control
• Code structure, test coverage and how hard it is to change safely
• Security basics: passwords, access, secrets, backups and known vulnerable dependencies
• Hosting cost and reliability, and whether the setup matches your scale
• Delivery process: estimates, releases, documentation and communication

You receive a plain-language report with a risk rating per area and a prioritised list of fixes.
